Web Design Specialist Students in the web design specialist program explore concepts like the structural development web site and the tools that expand and enhance the graphical user interface. Topics presented include the formal elements of typography, color, industry practices, and idea generation, as well as the development of professional attitudes and approaches to problem solving. Discussion, demonstration, and hands-on projects that simulate real-world scenarios are important and teach students how to think like web site designers. Technologies learned include HTML and web graphics, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Dynamic HTML, JavaScript, and Macromedia Flash. E-commerce Specialist In the E-commerce Specialist program, students will learn how they can build their own E-commerce Web site using Allaire's ColdFusion and they will acquire a solid foundation in the tools and skills of computer-generated design. In addition to emphasizing technical proficiency, essential concepts such as design theory and design methodology are integrated. The program is divided into three sections: Graphic Essentials, Web Essentials and E-commerce. In these three sections students will learn how to design effective web pages and graphics as well as how to develop e-commerce components. Students will work in HTML, dynamic HTML, JavaScript, Macromedia Dreamweaver and Flash as well as Allaire's ColdFusion. At the same time students will also be discussing many of the issues surrounding the implementation and maintenance of an E-Business. Topics discussed will range from hosting issues to marketing strategies. Length of Program: 22 weeks in day program. 62 weeks part-time in evening program. Client/Server Web Development Client/Server Web Development focuses on some of today's hottest technologies: Visual Basic 6, Active Server Pages, Internet Information Server, ActiveX, as well as standards like HTML and JavaScript. Employment opportunities for IT professionals armed with these technological skills are practically unlimited! This program consists of four major sections: Programming concepts, techniques, and client-side modeling architecture using Visual Basic 6.0; Database development and programming using Oracle, the de-facto in relational database management systems; Real-world application development focusing on server-side data access using proven coding techniques and ActiveX technologies; and Web development using HTML, JavaScript, VBScript, and Active Server Pages. Length of Program: 15 weeks in day program. 36 weeks part-time in evening program.
